Road Conditions
Road conditions on the route designed for you vary from good surfaces with full road markings to country lanes with no markings. Some northern parts of the route use roads which are unfenced and sheep often wander across the road especially in the Pennine areas. Cattle grids are common on some parts of the route.
In Britain we ride on the left hand side of the road. If you have not ridden in Britain before and are unsure of what to do in certain situations then please come and join us on short road training rides on the Friday and Saturday evenings before LEL commences. These rides will take in roundabouts, left and right turns, traffic lights and rail crossings. These rides will be organised by the Willesden Cycling Club and will start and finish at The Lea Valley Youth Hostel. Details will be available when you register for the event.

Potholes can occur on any part of the route and you are advised to watch out for these.
The event will not be signposted like Paris Brest Paris but we will have easy to see LEL signs guiding you into the controls so you should find these without any difficulty. The route sheet (route cue sheet) is comprehensive and easy to follow. Use the route sheets carefully and you will be fine and will hopefully not get lost. Take a map with you just in case you do.
